MY FUTURE IS OUT THERE
This Blog is the journey of my exploration into the possibility of working as a photographer and actually being able to transform my life and pursue my dreams of becoming an artist and documentary photographer. I want to explore and investigate working with my own photography, exhibitions, books around photography narratives.
site navigation – for your info
On this home page I have done a brief overview of the work I have done so far in photography. some of the projects I have done at uni and also a look at the professional work I have done volunteering as an events photographer. it showed my ability to find work and a willing ness to volunteer, a good way into the creative industries.
In terms of navigation all my other more specific blogs are in my BLOG FEED see the menu at top of the page. in my blog feed I have done an extensive blog about the ethics and photography. I have a post about the First site gallery in colchester and an overview of the presentation given by Stuart Tulloch, the director. in this post I have discussed the function of galleries and art organisations in the uk. to demonstrate my ability to find work not only have I covered events photography on this home page but I have also done posts on the possibility of working in a professional Lab, working in publishing and I have done extensive research and a post of continuing my education and doing an MA in photography. you will also find a series of post about my website and portfolio and the process I went through producing these up to a professional standard. one of the interesting factors about my web site was that I wanted to make it accessible to people with disabilities. I have choses larger fonts and easy navigation tools. I am dyslexic and wanted my website to feel intuitive , simple and clear. there are some other posts which are just general research posts. When you press on the blog feed button the post will appear in an order of assignment blogs first , then website and portfolio design and research posts at the end.
An introduction to ideas for the future

WORKING AS AN ARTIST
BEING AN ARTIST? Wow, I can barely even comprehend the idea. As I progress through this course I am becoming more aware that the ability to express my self through Art would for me be the ultimate goal. At this stage I am massively lacking in confidence and faith in my ability and actually think I am kidding my self and that this is an unattainable goal. However I also know through my own life experience that you never know unless you try and I also know that I am risk taker, and when I set my mind on something I can often do it. So with this module I am going to produce a Website for me as an artist. compile the work I have done already and PUT MYSELF OUT THERE.
university project, thinking like an artist

CORONA VISION – AN ART PROJECT
An ongoing Post Photography documentary project combining MultiMedia and narrative constructions in a documentary ethos as a work of Art. The project is based on the First 60 days of lockdown in the UK which started March 2020. In my project I am exploring concepts of Hyper Realties, a Fear based Media and the tragic Story of the SARS-COVID 19 pandemic that has plagued the world This year.
events photography – working professionally

EVENTS PHOTOGRAPHY
Working as a local News/events photographer is something I am going to investigate further in this module.
During the last Few years I have been working for free covering local events for charity and community groups. It was a very challenging and rewarding experience. I even managed to get many of my events printed up in the local free papers where sometimes I had to write the articles to go with them as well. here are some of the events I covered
Free At Last
One of the Great Joys for Farmer Rob White at Peak Hill Organic Farm is the release of the cows onto pasture after a long winter in the cow sheds living on a diet of hay and other feeds. As the gated open the cows Run out into the pasture literally jumping with joy. Delighting in the succulent soft grass to feed on and the large open spaces to to call home.
THE CRAGG SISTERS CELEBRATE
Aldeburgh’s oldest Tea Room turned Seventy this year and I was commissioned by Penny, the editor of the Aldeburgh Times to Cover the event with my camera. I was delighted when my photos made it to the cover.
Events I have covered
Events photography is great and I find it challenging because it involved dealing with people. I am not the most sociable person but I found that once I overcame my fear and actually arrived at the job it was great. I love the photography and seem yo enter a zone where I am fearless and assertive and get the shots I need to tell the story. I wouldn’t want to be an actual press photographer, not only is it very competitive but also involved being on location and travelling around a lot. I have done this before with film companies and documentary stuff and its not where I feel I am heading any more. I am more interested in learning academically and practicing my art and photographic skills.
